Serendipity Diamonds Offers Fairtrade Gold

Serendipity Diamonds and Fairtrade Gold

Earlier this year, we registered our commitment to join an ever growing movement of jewellers, looking for ways to improve the lives of people working within the jewellery supply chain. In particular a better life for the artisanal and small-scale miners of Gold.

About the Fairtrade mark.

“The FAIRTRADE Marks are the globally recognised symbols of the international Fairtrade system. When you buy products with any of the FAIRTRADE Marks, you support farmers and workers as they improve their lives and their communities.”

Fairtrade and Fairmined Gold

Fairtrade and Fairmined gold is the world’s first independent, ethical certification system for gold and associated precious metals, coming from artisanal and small-scale miners. The Standard is owned by Fairtrade International and the Alliance for Responsible Mining. It covers social and economic development, environment development, labour conditions and traceability and transparency in the supply chain.

Miners who sell on Fairtrade terms are guaranteed a minimum price, they also receive an additional sum of money, the Fairtrade premium.

Why offer Fairtrade Gold?

Like many manufacturers and retailers in the jewellery industry, we are still learning. Day by day. Month by month. Year by year. Many business owners like myself welcome the opportunity to embrace opportunities to provide 100% ethically sourced, sustainable products into their product lines. Supporting these changes will enable development of initiatives that better the lives of those mining the raw materials, earning a better living for their families and community. We are in the very early stages of introducing Fairtrade Gold jewellery, so please work with us and please bear with us. We are following the great example set by many retailers such as Cred Jewellery who are still inspiring others to adopt more socially responsible ways of producing jewellery.
